Why You Should Have Your Electrics Checked?
Much like a WOF for cars it can be important that you carry out checks on your electrics at regular intervals to check on the condition.
Regardless of whether you have a residential or commercial property these checks will help to identify any faults or defects which could require improvement. It will also ensure that your electrics continue to work in an effective manner.
There are two kinds of checks that be carried out - and they should be carried out only by a registered electrician.
A visual inspection is a basic check to see if there is any visible signs of defects, damage or deterioration; and because it's only visual, it is likely your electricity will remain on during the time we are there.
This is a check list of things that we will look at - main fuse board, sockets and plugs, light fittings and switches, electrical cables and leads, earthing and bonding, extension leads, signs of wear and tear, visible signs of burning/scorching, RCD protection around the premises.
The second option is Electrical Testing & Inspection, and this will involve the testing of various circuits which will require the electrics within the premises to be switched off. The purpose is to is to determine, so far as is reasonably practicable, whether the installation is in a satisfactory condition for continued service. The outcome will provide a summary of the condition of the electrics installed in your home or business. It will determine whether it complies with the current safety standards also.
